About Our Ministry
Our Story
For the last nearly 30 years of full-time ministry, Dr. Rick has filled a variety of roles in the ministry. Starting out in Florida as a Pastoral Care minister, his personal reach to the members, visitors and new converts of the church yielded strong results. Nearly 60 percent of visitors and nearly 80% of the new converts connected in that local church. As a result of making personal contact a priority and realizing that no one can do work by themselves, Dr. Rick began to train up leaders and establish a small group ministry in a church of over 1200 in weekly attendance. The impact of the combination of personal contact and connecting people in a small group setting helped to nearly double the church in a two-year timeframe.
Since then, he has filled a variety of ministry roles: youth pastor, associate pastor, bible college instructor, and church planter to name a few. In 2012, he assisted in launching Life Christian University of Cherokee, where he was one of the primary instructors for the first two years. Over the years, numerous students have been trained and launched in the full-time ministry in a variety of ways.
He has played a role in training teams of people in local church settings to help free the pastor to fulfill his God assigned mandate and vision. His heart is to come alongside ministers and ministries to help hold up their arms and equip their teams to be all that God ordained them to be.
Rick’s unique teaching gift and heart of a pastor for pastors and people allows him to connect and champion the cause of others. Amy’s ability to write and administrate have been a key to success in ministry for them both. They are ordained with the Righteous Preachers Network, a Mark Barclay Ministry.
Rick and Amy Barker currently serve at Mark Barclay Ministries in the Field Coordinator office, facilitating local church meetings and conferences for MBM. Having pastored themselves, they bring a unique perspective to the ministry in personally connecting with the various challenges and pressures that come with a pastoral assignment. Their heart together is to propel others higher, showing them their worth and importance in the Kingdom of God.
